Facebook Officially Launches Ads API, Opening Efficient Ad Management Tool Development
Facebook today announced the official launch of Ads API, which allows developers to create tools and services that programmatically create, buy, and manage Facebook ad campaigns. The Ads API had been in limited private beta since late 2009, and has been used by brands via third-party providers to run and optimize multi-million dollar ad campaigns too complex to conducted through Facebook’s self-serve ad tool.
Apple Launches iCloud Beta
The new beta, which is available to all users with an Apple ID, features web-based version of Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Find myiPhone and iWork. They are accessible if you visit iCloud.com while using iOS 5 (available to Apple developers) or Mac OS X Lion. It does not include Apple’s cloud music services, including iTunes Match.
Facebook buys iOS book-app publisher Push Pop Press
Facebook has acquired Push Pop Press, the US startup behind Al Gore’s Our Choice book-app for iPhone and iPad.
The developer announced the news on its website, explaining that “we’re taking our publishing technology and everything we’ve learned and are setting off to help design the world’s largest book, Facebook”.

As such, brands continue to race to social media sites in the hopes of connecting with consumers when their attention is focused on conversations relevant to those brands. DVD rental startup Zediva fought the law; guess who won?
Zediva, an ill-conceived startup that sought to exploit a legal loophole in the DVD rental business, has been shut down by a federal court.
A judge issued a preliminary injunction in an ongoing case between Zediva and the MPAA, ruling that Zediva’s business is one big copyright violation.
